HOPE

Our Purpose

HOPE, or Help Organize for Public Education is a Political Action Committee organized within the auspices and control of the Capistrano Unified Education Association (CUEA).  The purpose of the committee is to raise funds to spend specifically on local school board elections for the benefit of teachers and education in the Capistrano Unified School District. On some occasions funds are also donated to campaigns related to the Orange County Board of Education. Funds are donated by the members of CUEA and spent according to the rules of the Fair Political Practices Commission of the State of California.  HOPE's State ID is #870138.

School Board President Krista Castellanos is an Orange County Elementary School Teacher, working mom of three daughters, and spouse of a former Federal Law Enforcement official. Re-elect a Teacher to the Capistrano Unified School District Board! A vote for Krista is a vote for high  academic standards and strong music/art programs. She’ll always put student first!

Amy Hanacek

Incumbent, Area 1: Dana Point, Capo Beach, some of San Clemente

School Board Member Amy Hanacek is a small business owner who has reduced taxes and administrator’s salaries. As a School Board  Member, she has advocated for increasing parent empowerment, elementary school counselors,
and high school College & Career specialists.

Sherine Smith

Dr. Sherine Smith is a San Clemente resident and a former teacher, school principal, and  superintendent. She is running for School Board to put more dollars into the classroom through strong fiscal accountability and better financial management of our schools.

Michael Parham

Incumbent, Area 2: Ladera Ranch, Rancho Santa Margarita, Coto de Caza

School Board Member Michael Parham is a businessman, licensed CPA, and finance  professional with a proven track records of saving millions of dollars for taxpayers. Michael  champions transparent public disclosure of school spending to ensure accountability. A father of four, he is an advocate of parental rights and strong partnerships between parents, teacher, and the community.
