Leave Timelines

April 7: Request for a fall semester leave of absence must be submitted in writing to unit member's immediate supervisor (usually principal) on or before April 7. For further clarification refer to Article 10, pages 22-24 in your ontract.

Partnership Teaching Timelines

Teachers wishing to form new partnerships or continue the ones already in existence must file partnership proposals to their principals by March 1. Principals will notify requesting teams whether their partnership has been approved or denied by March 31. If a partnership team is denied, the principal is to meet and discuss the reasons for the denial with the team members.

In a few instances, partnership teams are denied based upon insufficient information on the application form. Both the District and CUEA have on file several models of successful partnership applications. Contact your principal or call the CUEA office at ;

(949)900.2280 or for samples.

CUEA reminds teachers new to the partnership system of the following important contract considerations:

1) Partners are required to cover for one another on a day-to day basis unless there are extenuating circumstances.

2) If one partner must take an extended leave of absence, but plans to return within one semester, the other partner is required to substitute at his/her per diem rate. If the leave extends beyond one semester, the partnership will be dissolved.

3) A member of a partnership which has been approved may not withdraw from the partnership except for extreme extenuating circumstances.

Teachers who are new to the partnership experience should refer to their contract Article 7, pages 22–25. If you cannot readily find your contract, call our office and we will send you a reprint of the article.
