Credentials Must Be Renewed
Online!

Effective January 1, 2007, teachers required to renew their Clear, Professional, or Professional Clear Credential must renew on-line before the expiration date.
Just log on to the credentialing website at www.ctc.ca.gov and follow the simple instructions for renewal. Credentialing renewal fees can be paid through either a personal or a prepaid VISA or MasterCard.

150 Hours Not Needed for Renewal

Teachers will no longer be required to submit the 150 hours of Professional Growth, or the service requirement, in order to renew their credential.

A credential must be renewed every five years. CUEA urges all teachers to be aware of the expiration date of their credential and renew several months prior to that date. For those who like to plan ahead, you may renew your credential for up to one year prior to the expiration date without impacting the original renewal date.
The CUSD Personnel Office will send a courtesy email reminder, but it is the teacher's responsibility for renewing on time. As per state law, teachers cannot remain in the classroom, even for a day, if their credential has expired. There are also profound implications to salary and possibly STRS benefits if credentials are not renewed on time.
