Q. #1 How do you leave a message for any number of CUEA officers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week? As always, if you call the CUEA office at (949) 900-2280, our new phone number, Julie Gallups will direct your calls between the hours of 8:30 and 5:00, ( Summer hours may be different). After hours you may leave a voice mail message for the following people in the general mailbox: Vicki Soderberg, President First dial (949) 900-2280. The automated system will tell you to dial 1 and then the voice mailbox number you wish. See the "Contacts" page for more contact information. Q. #2 What procedures do I need to follow when returning from an "Unpaid Leave"? (See more on "Leaves") If you are returning from an unpaid leave of absence, be sure to fill out a new CUEA membership form. Your membership was automatically dropped when you went on an unpaid status. Ask your CUEA Building Rep, email or call the CUEA office (949) 900-2280 for a new form. Q. #3 How do you file a claim for liability insurance coverage with the NEA sponsored Educators Employment Liability program? If you are involved in any situation which you believe is covered by the EEL program, notify CUEA immediately or your NEA state affiliate. In an emergency, contact CTA Member Benefits directly. ( more) Q. #4 What do you regarding substitutes when you know you are going to be absent? If you know ahead of time that you will need a substitute, it is best to call that person yourself and set up the date. You will still need to call the automated sub service, but you've assured yourself that a substitute will be covering your class(es). Q. #5 How am I represented as an individual teacher to the Association? Representatives are locally elected at the school sites and meet twice monthly for Association business (more). Q. #6 Are there any special programs for new teachers? The New Teachers Workshop and the Temporary Teachers Workshop held in the fall of each year. (more). Q. #7 Are there any committees that I might become involved in? In addition to running for election for any of the Association offices, there are many committees and members needed to run them.
