Membership Benefits
CUEA Member Benefits
Active membership in CUEA is open to any certificated employee of the Capistrano Unified School District who is engaged in or who is on limited leave of absence from professional educational employment and whose primary assignment is other than as a supervisor of other certificated employees.
How do I become a member?
To become a member of CUEA, a Membership Enrollment Form must be completed, signed, and returned to the CUEA office care of:
Capistrano Unified Education Association
Attn: Julie Gallups
27422 Aliso Creek Road, Suite 100
Aliso Viejo, CA 92656
Where do I get membership forms?
Membership forms may be obtained from CUEA Building Representatives or by calling the CUEA office at;(949) 900-2280 and requesting the same.
Does Payroll Deduction automatically make me a member?
A payroll deduction forwarded to CUEA does not guarantee membership, as all members of the certificated bargaining unit in CUSD, whether or not a member of CUEA, have monies payroll deducted and remitted to CUEA. The money deducted from those who have signed a membership form represents dues. The money deducted from those who have not signed such a membership form represents a representation fee. Since membership in CUEA is voluntary, in order to be entitled to the benefits of membership in CUEA, CTA, or NEA, an enrollment form must be signed and on file in the CUEA office.
What is considered the membership year for CUEA?
The CUEA/CTA/NEA membership year is from September 1st through August 31st each year.
What CTA and NEA benefits are there with my membership?
Membership in CUEA entitles an individual to receive CTA and NEA Benefits in addition to whatever benefits may be available exclusively through the local association.
What CUEA benefits are there to membership?
Members of CUEA are eligible to vote in all CUEA, CTA, and NEA general elections, and are entitled to vote on the Negotiated Agreement between CUSD and CUEA. Members are eligible to run for any CUEA, CTA or NEA elected office, including CUEA Building Representative.
